Hope you guys wont find this annoying, but I really can’t help but THANK each and everyone of you again! For coming by Nevertoosweet and leaving a comment
I never imagined all the love and support that I would get from everyone! I promise to do my best and improve on my photography skills hahaha sorry about all the random objects surrounding the food, I’m still trying to get the hang of taking a good picture.
I’m also looking at getting a new camera because right now I’m just using a Canon IXUS do you guys have any suggestions for a beginner?
For a change today, I didn’t want to give you guys a review of a cafe or restaurant, instead I wanted to do a review on one of my favourite ice-cream brands in Melbourne – Gundowring Ice Cream!
I first met Gundowring at the Taste of Melbourne event this year in September which I know most bloggers in Melbourne went to as well. It was my first time so I had a lot of fun tasting and trying everything especially the DESSERTS
Back to Gundowring, I have to admit it wasn’t love at first sight, but once we met and finally got to know each other, I was truly, deeply and MADLY in love with IT! For those who haven’t heard about Gundowring Ice cream, the ice cream is produced using fresh milk from Holstein cows in Kiewa Valley of northeast Victoria by Sarah and Stephen Crooke and their two sons who are fourth generation farmers.
They have the classic flavours which they call ‘Hero Flavours’ that’s available all year round which includes: Chocolate, French Vanilla, Raspberry and Toasted Honey and Walnut. Then they have have their Popular Flavours such as Ginger and Espresso and also their Seasonal Flavours e.g. Fresh Plum and Fig you can check out their website for more information on their flavours http://www.gundowringfinefoods.com.au/flavours.html :)
During my recent trip to Beechworth I was so excited when I saw Gundowring ice cream everywhere I went! It was at the Milawa Cheese Factory and also at the Bridge Road Brewers, there was even a sign on the pedestrian pathway.
I couldn’t help it but drag Mr Bao in to get some more ice-cream we’d already had some the day before…and um…the day before that too. It’s just TOO irresistible!
I love the rich and creamy texture of their ice creams and the ‘real’ and ‘geniune’ taste of their flavours! Like I hate it when Mr Bao orders all those fruity flavoured ice-creams e.g. Strawberry and it tastes like cough syrup probably because its made from chemicals. But with Gundowring’s lime flavour it really tasted like lime with little bits of zest
I was too busy stuffing myself the day before and forgot to take pictures of the Sticky Date Pudding flavour I had, it was SO SO SOOO delicious it was literally like eating a frozen Stick Date Pudding!!! No joke they even had little bits of date throughout the ice-cream!
Look at us! So happy and satisfied ~
I just realised this is Mr Bao’s first appearance on Nevertoosweet! Hope he doesn’t mind hahaha I didn’t tell him that I was going to upload this photo hehe
To wrap this up, Gundowring Ice-cream is pretty well stocked all around Australia especially in NSW and Victoria, for those living in Melbourne you’ll easily find it at David Jones in the City and stores such as Thomas Dux. If you’re serious about ice cream and sick of all the commercial stuff we get from Coles you HAVE to try Gundowring! It is a little bit dearer ($5 for a small tub) but I ensure you it is ONE OF THE BEST ice-creams you’ll find in Australia
PS. What’s your favourite brand of ice-cream? I’d love to try them out!

I know! But too bad I’m overseas now
can’t find ice-cream like Gundowring! Have you tried Royal Copenhagen in Sydney? I liked them too when I was in Sydney last time ~
Ahh.. I noticed Gundowring at Taste this year too but was too full to try. Totally regretting it now cause I didn’t know it was that famous for its natural flavours! And that SDP flavour sounds like epic WIN. I have to try it someday! Summer’s coming up and the timing couldn’t have been any better. Great post, D! =)
That’s a shame but doesn’t matter you can get it any good supermarkets and David Jones in the city
